A repetitive involuntary forceful closure of the eyelids. The underlying cause is in the brain’s control of eyelid closure; the eyes themselves are normal
Clinical Features
Spasmodic forced closure of the eyelids
Patient unable to prevent closure or to open during spasm
Eye examination is normal

See ophthalmologist or neuro-ophthalmologist
Botulinum toxin (Botox) injection forms mainstay of treatment
